The Great Beauty of Books

People ask, “Which was better? The movie or the book?” How can I we answer that. I love movies and books. And plays, too, for that matter. I like people telling each other and showing each other what it means to be human – how it feels and how hard it sometimes is, which we don’t say out loud at our jobs or at the big family holiday dinner. I also having an escape from how hard life is through books, movies, and theater. The great beauty of books is the way we come to know some of the mind and heart of the writer, through her choices and reflections, even bearing in mind that when a character or a even a narrator tells a story the writer is creating a persona. Still, the joy of meeting another sensibility is why I began voraciously reading as a child and why I still read now. People are endlessly interesting. Bring on more books!
